As a pre-stdy for the routine subrocess.Popen(), I wrote a program and got acceptable results although not perfect using vfork+exec. This is documented at http://vouters.dyndns.org/tima/OpenVMS-Linux-fork_exec_without_pipes.html. When executed under OpenVMS, my program requires VAXC$PATH:DCL.EXE which is installed by HP GNV.

In consequence if subprocess.Popen() routine is based upon this study, there is some hope to see subprocess.Popen() implemented in Python/VMS.
