Hi.
When the "History, what's new" says "Put online new IA64 LD images",
how should that be interpreted?
- As some IA64-only features not portable to Alpha?
- That Alpha support will be built and published later?
- That Alpha is beeing de-supported?
Lately it seems to be parts re-written in Cython. |

Hi,
I expect to build new image for Alpha later, the main problem is that the last time I have try to start my Alpha system, 2 disks haven't started and they are are from the asme shadow set, so I lost my main disk source...
So I hope that when temperature will be higher (currently where the system is hosted temperature is only 12C) they will started...
Until that, I will only publish IA64 images
JF
ps.
Cython is a very interesting tool, I expect to finish the smg module this week. |

Fine! But...
Code: |
%MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, JFPLIB0005A mounted on _$1$LDA1: (OSSBY1)
%DCL-E-OPENIN, error opening DISK$JFPLIB0005I:[LIBZ]STARTUP.COM; as input
^
--------------------------------------------| |
Should'n there be an "A" there ?
I changed a coupe of files and it worked fine.
LIB_STARTUP.COM and LIB_LOGICALS.COM... |

What is the plan for Alpha? |

Do something, someday...
I have a few requests for an update of the Alpha kit, so I have put it in the pipe... But it's not very high in my priority.

OK, good to know...
Now, that it seams as VSI will extend Alpha support (not officially yet, but...)
it could be interesting with continued Alpha builds of Python.
Is there some technical differences between Alpha and IA64 that makes it more
difficult to build the Alpha kit? Or maybe it is just a matter of spare time... |

Hi.
The question about future Alpha builds is of course still an issue.
I just saw this in another thread: "I don't have any Alpha anymore...".
Now, is the Alpha builds officially put to a rest? |

Hi,
technically I still have an Alpha but it's an emulator and it is very slow, so near unusable.
The problem with the Alpha build is that there is about a week of work and I don't have such free time.
As I wrote in a previous message, it's on my todo list but very low, and the list is long...
Which is much higher in my list is to do the port on future OpenVMS on X64.
