I've just upgraded MYSQL from V23.1-0 to V46.2-0 trying to follow the description placed on

http://www.vmsmysql.org/DownloadAndInstallationMySQL5146#Upgrade_from_a_previous_5.1_installation

A warning to everyone this upgrade description does include a few typos.

eg. the line
mysql> source mysql_system_tables_fix.sql;
will not work as there is no such file. This should read (I'm guessing as there are only 2 sql files in the scripts directory)
mysql> source mysql_fix_privilege_tables.sql;

Any chance of someone updating this page?

Cheers
John

The upgrade was done in the same directory as the existing installation.
V5.1-23

The Image files indicate SEP-2010

When I start the new MYSQL server and log in I get the following output:
########################################
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 20
Server version: 5.1.23-rc-log Source distribution

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.
########################################

Now according to the installation instructions I should get:
########################################
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 69
Server version: 5.1.46-log Source distribution
########################################

What is wrong?

John

Hello John,

The documentation is correct.

Do you have stop your previous MySQL server before doing the upgrade ?

ALso on my systems:
Code:
$ dir MYSQL051_ROOT:[scripts]mysql_system_tables_fix.sql

Directory MYSQL051_ROOT:[scripts]

mysql_system_tables_fix.sql;1

Total of 1 file.

You can try to remove the previous installation (PRODUCT REMOVE) then install the 5.1.49 kit (PRODUCT INSTALL).

Thanks for reporting.

JF
ps.
The documentaion is in a wiki, if you want an account to update it let me know.
